How big is the New Forest?

The New Forest is 566km wide and covers about 220 square miles. The coast of the New Forest National Park takes in approximately 15 miles of coast between Calshot Castle and Hurst Castle.

The New Forest is a vast area of over 140,000 acres across Hampshire and into Wiltshire. 34,000 people live within the New Forest boundary, and its home to a whole variety of wildlife.

There are 37 parishes and towns wholly or partly within the National Park.

There are over 140 miles of waymarked cycle tracks and footpaths and plenty of cycle hire centres, like our one in Beaulieu, that you can use to take advantage of the picturesque views the New Forest has to offer.
